This trilogy is  about a dystopian future, where our race is split into five factions. These factions are Candor, where you never tell a lie, Abnegation, where others always come first, Dauntless, where being brave is required, Erudite, where knowledge is valued and Amity, where kindness  and peace are the core values. The books follow Tris, a Abnegation born 16 year old girl. In her choosing ceremony, she transfers into Dauntless and a very tough initiation follows. Tris must fight for her right to stay and hide her divergence as best she can, during a time where a civil war is brewing.

The Mortal Instruments is about a girl who thinks she lives in the regular world. She could not be anymore wrong. Behind the world that we see, there is a world filled with demons and vampires and werewolves. The only people keeping these monsters in check are Shadowhunters. One day, Clary’s mother is attacked and her eyes are opened to this other world, where she meets a cocky and arrogant but very helpful boy named Jace. He joins her on her self appointed quest to save her mom, and subsequently, the race of shadowhunters.
